IN TODAY’S USA, there is a vicious and growing power differential in play. The divide between the rich and the rest of us is a vortex, inhaling energy, sorrow, and lives. We need to take the power back.
IN HIS STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS, President Obama speaks but “Thirty Eight Words” on Immigration Reform and judging from more than one source in the blogosphere, they weren’t extremely inspiring. Others were happy to hear immigration reform mentioned at all in the SOTU. But combined with the inaction so far on immigration reform, many activists and organizations are feeling daunted.
THE MARCH AND RALLY on January 16, 2010 in Maricopa County, Arizona to protest the criminal Sheriff Joe Arpaio, reviled for his racial profiling tactics, his gratuitously cruel and humiliating conditions for detention, and his embarrassing anachronistic and race-based antagonism against entire communities.
I NURTURE A SUDDEN AND UNREASONABLE HOPE that we can institute behavior incompatible with the larger and more destructive behaviors of our culture as well as cast off the illusion that makes so many give up before they might have a chance to start.

MY HOPE IS THAT WE CARRY THIS FORWARD. This energy now rising. That we all carry on with this decision to work for a new day and a new way of seeing. A way out of the hate and the fear and the small-minded paradigms that keep us running in circles as we try to spiral up to the Top of the Shining Heap and step on other hands to get there. That we continue to open our minds and our hearts and become this change we want so much to believe in.

Yours truly will be hefting his mighty black videocamera and swiftly whipping out his slim and classy iPhone in hopes of capturing bits and pieces of all the action to send back home to thee.
