AFTER THIRTY YEARS, Lou Dobbs is pushed off CNN. “Strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country,” he says on his last night, “affecting all of us.” Adios, Lou.
A FAMOUS TELEVISION PUNDIT confesses to us that hate and vitriol has become his way of life. He manifests a negativity that haunts his own mind. He wants sympathy. This is a story about energy.
PEOPLE LIKE LOU DOBBS and William Gheen only care about violent environments when they suffer. Clearly, immigrants and Latinos getting killed or hurt matters none to them.
THIS IS AND HAS BEEN a long, long war. This foul spirit that rises and repeats and seeks to make mi gente retreat has been tearing at the land and the skin of the face and the hands of my people for hundreds of years.
SOON, CNN WILL BE BROADCASTING their Latino in America special, as if they don’t contribute to the animosity and eventual murder that finds its way to our communities through the furrowed mind and curling lips of well-established Racist and hatemonger Lou Dobbs.
THIS WEEK’S VLOG might best be called the “Crazy Old White Guys Edition,” and while it’s not a topic I’d want to visit too often, these cats be jumpin’ the rails and thrusting themselves into the news cycle with all the grace of a cry for psychiatric help on broken roller skates. So let’s focus our gaze on them for a brief moment. I dare you!
THE CULTURAL DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE NATION ARE CHANGING. Black President, Hispanic Supreme Court Justices, Black Attorney Generals, and lest we forget, Kumar in the White House. This is throwing some people off-stride and just a bit out of their minds.
FINALLY, immigrants and darker-skinned people are being seen more and more as “us” and less and less as “alien/other/invader.” We now enlist more voices and more strength. Obama’s election is not the instigator of this change, simply one sign among many that our hearts and minds and awarenesses are demonstrating the reasonability and intelligence and empathy that a modern day human ought to have.
