THE NEW YEAR RUSHES UPON US with momentum born of crisis and necessity. In every direction one looks, change is needed—and not cosmetic alteration, but deep, structural repair. The issue of immigration is no exception.

AS SADDENED AND CYNICAL as I have become about humankind in my life, I still nurture a belief in the human heart and the sense of Right. I still feel that in most cases of wrong being done, all it takes is thinking, feeling people getting the real facts of a situation. And the facts of this situation are shocking and revolting to a thinking mind and feeling heart.
However you look at it, it’s becoming clear that growing our own food will soon be a necessary component of health and safety. As the food economy is repeatedly hatcheted by a fumbling and stumbling FDA; as plants, slaughterhouses, and restaurants are hit hard due to ICE raids, food preparation and cleanliness is suffering, supply is suffering and at times drying up, and most importantly, our food is simply longer viable in many important ways.
