WHEN THE ILLUSION of unrelated cause and effect is maintained, a People will make no progress, but remain mired in a foggy landscape where isolated individuals and incidents can only be chased as they arise; shot at, locked up or kept behind a fence in lieu of understanding.
THE WIRES ARE ABLAZE with a coincidence of timing in President Obama’s appointing a “border czar” and the discovery of massive weaponry in the hands of a Mexicana who was photographed by AP cameras looking extremely well-stocked and defiant.
LA SANTA MUERTE is threatening Jesus Christ. Those who champion Mister Christ are lashing back. Or perhaps we might say the Mexican Oligarchy is acting like terrorists and destroying symbols that are dear to groups of people who frustrate them. However you word it, the People are under seige on more than one front.
The elites in so many nations lie and steal and cheat their way into power. And then once there, they do nothing to alleviate the imbalances and injustices that drive so many less-empowered humans to find other ways to support themselves or find tenable ways and places to live.
There are simple ways to end so many conflicts today. We could stop seeking punitive measures in addressing human and natural reaction to economic imbalance and hardship. We could change our fearful, reactive, greedy, other-ing philosophies. We could focus on helping, giving, healing, growing—not bombing, fearing, hoarding, killing. Sadly, though, the powers that be do not want such a world.
