A SPIRIT THAT MOVES AMONG OUR PEOPLE and means to do great harm to many of us cloaks itself in many shapes. An extreme aversion to what is perceived as cultural shifts in the USA hides behind ideas of patriotism or English-fetish and manifests as cruelty.
NOBODY WAS IN DOUBT, and that’s the kind of town it is. A town where even the police collude to hide the murder of Mexicans, because it might besmirch the reputations of high school football stars if people knew they were cold blooded murderers. But truth has a way of prying open even the tightest of locked doors.

A PROBLEM IN TODAY’S DIALOGUE is a blatant abuse of pronouns. WE don’t use them as WE should. Words as cloaks, words as shields, words as masks—Television language on full blast from the mouths of well-paid shillers, in-absentia killers, supergroomed elitists faker pill-popper death makers.
TODAY IS THE DAY of México’s midterm elections. While Felipe Calderón is not on the ballot, his policies are under scrutiny. Support for or against PAN, FeCal’s party, will be interpreted as approval or disapproval for his violence-heavy policies. Of course, that’s assuming the vote tallies are legit.
SOMETHING MUST CHANGE. When US citizens already suffering from a terrible loss are attacked by other citizens en masse, and for nothing more than having Spanish names, it makes me feel like the past has reared up; days of Civil Rights era struggle, days of anti-Greaser hate, days of Los Vatos Locos and the dangerous fabled Pachuco. La Lucha Sigue.

A CLASS ACT, these anti-immigrant Minuteman types. Whether it’s being thieves and deceiving those they raise money from, or kicking down doors and shooting little girls and their families, Minutemen brigades are hard at work defending their diseased sense of reality from the world.
THIS IS TOO OFTEN, AN UNIMAGINATIVE AND CRUEL WORLD. Not that world which creation brings forth on her own (though we know not all things Natural are kind), but that which we fashion with the often half-benumbed hands of US culture.
NO GROUP OF PEOPLE IS “ALL BAD,” por supuesto! But some groups feel the need to defend themselves from the charge. And some would never dream of explaining a damn thing to anyone.
