IS THE USA a nation of cheating the system any way you can, getting paid to lie and be a hypocrite while taking advantage of those in need? Or is this a nation where a day’s work is worth a day’s pay, and a dream strapped with motivation is worth honest regard and reward?

I even had friends who called and said, “Are you crying yet?” Admittedly, I dashed away a few tears, but I didn’t really cry. The joy I felt was overshadowed by worry. That we continue to open our minds and our hearts and become this change we want so much to believe in.

MY HEART RACED faster and faster and when it was over I…I let the sadness wash through me as it had to for a few moments. The bold ignorance and hate and bigotry was…terrifying. And sad. And loathesome. And real. But not new. This energy takes people’s lives every day in some part of this land. But maybe we move closer to a new time. And simply that possibility is inspiring.
