JOSE VILSON: Barack Obama isn’t just a man in isolation or the man who’ll lead this country for the next four to eight years, but also a mass movement for that future, a bright one. Barack has overtly galvanized the country in his favor and has built a formidable youth movement that should keep this generation’s voice heard, but its soul intact.
I AM VERY HAPPY that my children will grow up to see Barack Obama as our President. I do think certain lines of thinking, where people imagine the arc of justice completed now that a black man is our President, go too far and too soon. But I know that from this day forward, children in the USA will grow up with a different idea of African Americans and our country, both.
WE HAVE AMAZING STORES OF POWER within us. Stores of energy; of psychic, spiritual, and mental energy. That’s why we can heal ourselves and sicken ourselves and others around us. Obama is not perfect, but from what I see, he believes in orienting upon the restorative, constructive, and healing properties of that energy. And anyone who does this has my attention.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BARACK OBAMA, the 44th president (-elect) of the United States of America. And to all who supported and worked for or contributed in some way toward this moment. It has been an overwhelming and amazing night. Here’s looking toward the future, and all it may contain.

A way out of the hate and the fear and the small-minded paradigms that keep us running in circles as we try to spiral up to the Top of the Shining Heap and step on other hands to get there. That we continue to open our minds and our hearts and become this change we want so much to believe in.

WATCHING THE WELL-WORN WEAPONS OF THE RIGHT being grappled and thrown and dropped and whipped about in frenzy; watching the GOP throw McCarthyism, Racism, Terrorism, Greedism and everything else at both Barack Obama and the American populace reminds me of the final writhings and wailings of the Boss Monster before you take its life.
AS I DO LIVE IN THE BEAVER STATE, where Jeff Merkley is campaigning, I figured I should post this endorsement by the hottest new blue brand in the land.
AS SADDENED AND CYNICAL as I have become about humankind in my life, I still nurture a belief in the human heart and the sense of Right. I still feel that in most cases of wrong being done, all it takes is thinking, feeling people getting the real facts of a situation. And the facts of this situation are shocking and revolting to a thinking mind and feeling heart.
JOHN MCCAIN turns out to be right in that Obama is hiding some family affiliations that the world really needs to know about. “Who is Barack Obama?” Obama posits rhetorically, repeating McCain’s ads—and then proceeds to tell us. And then, to smile as he takes John McCain apart piece by violet-hued and gummy-looking piece.
IT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH and time to take a bit of time to focus on a struggle that is waged every day, in every city, in every town with very real consequences for our entire world, and yet is alloted hardly the finances and attention and energy that the battle requires. After all, helping the world become a place that loves mujeres as much as they provide love for our world is a lifelong job—and all of our jobs.
THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES ARE OVER and unless a fireball comes blazing out of the sky with Osama bin Laden handcuffed to it bearing an oxygen tank to resuscitate the Free Market Philosophy wrapped in a economic surplus-scented plan to win Afghanistan, John McCain’s anger and slurs won’t be enough to yank the Republican brand out of the septic muck in which it has mired itself.
