The Rhythm that Refreshes

IT’S BEEN A LONG, INTENSE ELECTION YEAR. And just as after the primaries ended, at this point I feel the need to center myself. To calm, to restore, to reorient and mostly to withdraw a bit from the online activity and conversation, at least for a brief moment. Enough to mark a pause or a divide.

MY HOPE IS THAT WE CARRY THIS FORWARD. This energy now rising. That we all carry on with this decision to work for a new day and a new way of seeing. A way out of the hate and the fear and the small-minded paradigms that keep us running in circles as we try to spiral up to the Top of the Shining Heap and step on other hands to get there. That we continue to open our minds and our hearts and become this change we want so much to believe in.

A Loathsome Day On Parade

MY HEART RACED faster and faster and when it was over I…I let the sadness wash through me as it had to for a few moments. The bold ignorance and hate and bigotry was…terrifying. And sad. And loathesome. And real. But not new. This energy takes people’s lives every day in some part of this land. But maybe we move closer to a new time. And simply that possibility is inspiring.

Later when you have a booming economic engine of might, claim America was assembled in America and entirely by white pioneers who had a dream and simply worked hard to make it happen. That way, when things falter, you know who to blame. Others.

Angry McCain & Stately Obama

THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES ARE OVER and unless a fireball comes blazing out of the sky with Osama bin Laden handcuffed to it bearing an oxygen tank to resuscitate the Free Market Philosophy wrapped in a economic surplus-scented plan to win Afghanistan, John McCain’s anger and slurs won’t be enough to yank the Republican brand out of the septic muck in which it has mired itself.
