News With Nezua | Outlawing Justice
As an age of nationalized narcissism comes to an end in the USA, the illusion of hyper-abundance meets the limits of physical reality. To protect the illusion, those in power gird their stance, the government grows more fearful, and the police state more powerful. Actions that benefit the people, weaken our dependence upon the state and/or strengthen communal bonds are made illegal. Given this trend, will all righteous acts one day be illegal ones?
News With Nezua vids first appear Monday mornings at La Frontera Times. Wednesdays they show up at UMX, as well as in a dim setting at The XOLAGRAFIK Theater. Link to YouTube version here.

I rarely thought about how an adult’s opinions and behavior influences the children around them. I don’t have any children. However, my stepson wrote this about me on FaceBook-
“Laura Molina is the greatest artist of our time, and she taught me how to hate authority. Thanks Laura!”
lmao! why am i not surpised?

Not filled with a lot of your amazing filmmaking skills but the words in this video are among the most powerful you’ve ever uttered. Thanks for so clearly laying out why the law is not always just, and why one of our first fundamental duties as patriots, human beings, and parents is to question it.
Questioning comes first, but then I believe the most important part comes second, trying to provide answers to those questions and then finding a way to organize to implement them.
Thanks Kyle.
The second part can’t be the “most important” if it would not have happened without the first part, eh?
I’d say they are both invaluable to bringing change….
As a father of two young kids, this one really spoke to me, Nezua. Trying to show my kids the difference between right and wrong, between how the world is and how it should be, and what we can and should do about it, can be quite the challenge. Especially living in a community where my worldview is not the most common. I’m still struggling with and learning how to do this in a way that doesn’t seem like lecturing or at least in a way that will click. As my 6 year old has repeatedly shown me, she responds much better to seeing and doing than to words. I can talk all I want about justice, fairness, etc., but too often they’re just words to her that don’t mean much. But when she sees or experiences what we talk about, I can see things starting to click. It can be tough to remember to keep things on her level, but so necessary.
I’m looking forward to when she is old enough to watch your videos herself and be able to truly understand the power and magic of your words. In the meantime, I’ll keep watching and doing my best to share your message with her and her little brother.
Thanks, as always, for sharing this.
True, Michael…you can’t lecture kids, they’ll just fade out, lose attention. Doing, seeing, yes. But also a constant narrative, a constant check in from the adult, a constant guidance through the path. The world throws so much trash and hypnotism their way. I’m afraid I probably am a bit of a professor to my kids, in that it is important to me to make sure they have a reference point. It is our voices that will stay in their minds as they age. Even if they disagree at first or seem disengaged, it’s all registering. I agree they have to make their own way, of course. Sounds like you are a fantastic parent as it is. I appreciate the words on future viewers in the Mandel clan! Peace and thanks as always for watching and for your energy.
it was over a week ago i watched this and it has been in my heart and mind ever since…so while i have this moment…i gotta get my vote of confidence in, and appreciation for, the work you do here.
what you say about our responsibility to our children is so right on. showing them has always made me see myself. i find i always become the student when i interact with children, when my kids where little and still now they are grown, have always been my best instructor if i payed attention – no matter if it is about myself, them, or our world – they are the greatest of sources ever, to learn from. i so believe that and have experienced that. (i also suspect that it will be my grandchildren who are the needed revolution btw.)
anyway thank you again for being and keeping it real nez. keeping what matters important, in this most confusing of times…
you too my friend stay safe, stay strong.
Ran a little behind watching this episode, but it was worth it. What you did with the contrast of what the state sanctions/allows and what it condemns was just brilliant. There is a lot of food for thought there that more people should be hearing and considering. Keep speaking the truth.
Best, and keep on blogging.
Hey, Angel. I don’t mind waiting for people to view these, after all, my readers and viewers are patient with my output, too. I really appreciate your words and your time. Stay strong.
