Y LO PEOR DE TODO??? While 200 thousand marchers boldly took to the streets of Washington, ICE was issuing a memorandum boldly stating that this year it wanted to DEPORT all of those 200 thousand marchers TIMES TWO! What the hell is wrong with that picture?
A damn good question, bro. It’s almost as if our own nation is trying to destroy itself in the form of Anti-Immigration actions. To prune healthy and vibrant branches away from a tree that sorely needs fresh growth….
ICE cost U.S. taxpayers $5,928,210,000 in 2009. USCIS’s budget for 2009 was $2.7 billion, BUT $2.5 billion of that was funded through users fees(what the immigrants paid, basically. Thus, USCIS cost taxpayers only $200 million, compared to ICE which cost almost $6 billion!
So, if there was a legalization of the 12 million plus undocumented, ICE would be seriously lacking “customers” and lots of people would be out of jobs. It’s so ironic that the anti-immigrant tea partiers–who claim to be for less government spending–are for all out enforcement of immigration laws, which if they got what they wanted, would probably cost far far more than just 6 billion. What a world.
