I appreciate your words. My point, Alejandro--and it is not meant to be flip--is who will organize these proposed actions if not those who have the vision to imagine them? That is, you? My point is this: what if you are right? Then what? It is far more satisfying to act, to organize, rather than impotently howl. I am just not sure in the end about your use of "we." It feels a little vague. Many people are doing many things to affect change. I hear your frustration...my suggestion is find a way to be involved with some of them!

Also, the "we should write in Spanish" thing was something I didn't want to elaborate on. Yes, people should write in whatever language they want.

Ok. I will tweet everyone I know and ask them to fast for a week, I'll report back.

I wasn't talking specifically about you. I just see that there's this community of people who are informed about what's going on and speak about the unfairness of the status quo, and of fighting back, yet, no one is really fighting back. I'm not saying that there should be a revolution, but some type of movement.

I understand you're an artist/poet/blogger/ quite a few other things, and this is your way of fighting back though. I wasn't attacking you. I read your blog all the time. Peace.

You sound like you have some good ideas, maybe. Please report back because I'd love to hear how they play out.

I think I would have enjoyed taking Chicano studies. I took film, and counseling.

Also, I don't mind if you post your comments in Spanish as well as English. Or only in Spanish is fine, too. I don't make demands on my readers like that.

Maybe we should organize ourselves and boycott the shit out of everything. When African Americans were being grossly and blatantly mistreated and oppressed by the government, they didn't just sit around and hope that some nice white guy (in this case a black guy) would pity them and come to their rescue. They had the Black Panthers and people who reached out to other African Americans in order to bring awareness and expand their movement. They didn't just talk about how bad they had it, or what should be done, they took action! whether it was in the form of civil disobedience or mutiny, or whatever. Maybe we should unite as a people (brown people)and learn how to fight back, instead of just hoping that some pundit wakes up one day and decides to fight for our cause -or whatever we're hoping for.(not that it's only our cause, but still) We talk about all these things, but why don't we start to DO things. Why don't we actually talk to "illegal aliens" about how they are an asset to this country and how they add more to this country than they take away? Instead of just sharing this info amongst Mecha students, or people who majored in Chicano Studies. And maybe we should write in English and Spanish, too. Iono.
