She’s doing an amazing job. I see her as a stunning refutation of the racist thoughts a Latina evokes in so many white minds (of several generations, not just old ones). She’s also turning upside-down the ingrained white male presumptions of their own “neutrality” and “objectivity,” and of the supposed overly subjective judgment of others. I hope the repetition this week of that understanding has some sticking power for more and more white folks.
