The Secret Sauce is Made of Stupid

BURGER KING is showing advertisements in Europe featuring a story about a big Cowboy giving a little Mexican a lift. It seems those Mexicans are getting upset about this role! But not for the reasons one might think.

Spirit of the Resistance in Somalia

THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA DELIGHTS IN TELLING THE HOSTAGE TALE wherein the mighty snipers from the powerful US NAVY took down the wicked scourge of the seas and President Obama is a) Weak or b) Virile. But not even the Green Liberal faction is using the moment to talk about the oppression and poisoning of the Somalis.

La Santisima Muerte

LA SANTA MUERTE is threatening Jesus Christ. Those who champion Mister Christ are lashing back. Or perhaps we might say the Mexican Oligarchy is acting like terrorists and destroying symbols that are dear to groups of people who frustrate them. However you word it, the People are under seige on more than one front.

The Authority of a Spent Teabag

THE GATEKEEPERS SMELL YOU. They smell your stink, your mobsweat, your hunger for truth, your disdain for polish and kickback and they fear you. They fear for their own future, and all that once was so pristine and in the green zone of yesterday’s News. But do they fear mostly for their cash or for the proliferation of Truth?

Fistful of Teabag

RIGHT WING EXTREMIST THINKERS are imploding. Bomb Shelter Beck cries hot nuclear tears of Armageddon, Hannity has jettisoned Colmes for the like of guest lunatics like Michelle Bachman, and right wing gun nuts are making a run on weaponry for no reason other than that the party that invented pre-emptive war is out of power. Time for some TeaBagging to relieve the stress.

Weekly Immigration Wire: Binghamton Shootings Impact all Sides of Debate

LAST FRIDAY, 13 people were killed at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, New York. The event shocked the nation and was the worst mass shooting in the United States since the 2007 massacre at the Virginia Tech college. The immigrant community has been especially affected, and immigration opponents are predictably using the tragedy to voice their neverending supply of vitriol toward the undocumented.

Obama to Address Immigration In the Face of Opposition

PRESIDENT OBAMA MAKES IT CLEAR that he will, indeed, tackle immigration. Even in the face of the opposition that stands today. Including a path to legalization for “millions” of undocumented workers already part of the system. What’s that sound? Sanity?

As American as Gauze Taped Tight Under A Pair of Black Goggles

WE CAN NO LONGER IGNORE the war crimes that trail our national steps like a raging family of ghosts. Either we refute and condemn these horrific deeds through actions that bring justice, or we are become them.

This Present Absurd Order

CHE: “HOW LONG THIS PRESENT ORDER, based on the absurd idea of caste, will last is not within my means to answer, but it’s time that those who govern spent less time publicizing their own virtues and more money … funding socially useful works.”

The 2009 Colonizer of the Year Award: Foiled in Malawi

YOU MAY HAVE TEN SCREENS in your home, three limos, five platinum albums, two swimming pools and a twenty thousand dollar smile, but anyone who is anyone in the world of celebrities knows that you really just aren’t styling until you scoop up a few kids from an impoverished nation!

how does it feel to war on the world?

IN A WORLD FAR AWAY and to the East, robot ships hover and fly over clusters of homes targeting the residents for a violent death. They lock in their coordinates and fire rockets down on Foreign Militants as well as innocents. An exodus of one million people flees from these alien robot killers and the attacking armies of Pakistan.

DREAM With Me.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT DIFFICULT to advocate at length for things that seem common sense. I don’t know what to say to convince people that everyone should have air, or water, or love, or freedom of movement or a chance to give back to that which has nurtured them. I am never quite sure how to meet those who would oppose these things, either.

Weekly Immigration Wire: Resurrecting a Failed War on Drugs

THE WAR ON DRUGS HAS RETURNED even though under increased militarization, drug production actually goes up, as does the body count, while the seizure of drugs decreases. All the facts in hand show, inarguably, that the Drug War model is a failed method of dealing with immigration—even though President Obama seems intent to resurrect it.

Golden Feather [Wednesday Roost-Blogging]

SHOULD I PAINT MY FACE?
Should I pierce my skin?
Does this make me a pagan
Sweating out my sins…
