When all Mexican-Americans are U.S. citizens just like gringo-Americans are, their culture will have the best possible protection, insuring its future. There's no way you can turn the calendar back and stop the world from shrinking, so why not at least try to make the most of it?

Why did you say fork? Were you thinking of how Taco Bell ruined Mexican food by gringoizing it?
Hey I think Mexican culture is cool, but I'm a gringo and hot peppers burn my insides out, so I'm glad for Taco Bell :).

Yes, you could give me a long list of gripes about what Uncle Sam has done to Mexicans, but gimme a break, we're changing, who did we recently elect, another George Bush or Barack Obama? Who did you elect, Emperor Maximilian or Felipe Calderon? There must be a way to megamerge and allow friendly mass 2-way migration to equalize development and opportunities, it's only a line drawn on a map, get me an eraser.

Let's at least agree that the people on both sides can be friends even if their governments suck, and let bygones be bygones and see if there's any real support for megamerge. If there was, on the unapologetic Mexican side, would you back them? Look at the European Union. They did it, so what's our excuse? Are we the New World or what?

Ciao,

I don't want to protect a government, but the People. In Mexico. The citizenry and denizens who have no urge to see the US encroach even more on their culture, stabbing at wounds with a well-intentioned, if that, fork.

Peace.

Thanks for reading it. Maybe it's time for you to be as thoughtful as I, ese? I'm not talking about a takeover, but a megamerge, which means the Estados Unidos is now 75 states, and everybody is a citizen and gets to participate in government, elect congresspeople to send to Washington, and change everything peacefully, including immigration policy from Bangladesh. Is the irony so thick you could choke on it, the same government that trained me to kill you want to protect, don't be a poor sport, Frank, you coulda taken me out but you chose to save your ass, don't cry about it now. Which makes me think about Dallas, did you do all you could, or did you make a choice too? :)

Well I appreciate a lot of what you are saying in there. And at least you are being terribly thoughtful about it all.

There certainly are problems with the Mexican govt. Thing is, MX is...how shall I put it? After hundreds of years of fighting off conquest and occupation, well...the nation is a little bit not so happy about ideas like being "taken over." So there is no way, short of war, that the US is going to "take over" the MX govt any more than it already has in secret by way of backdoor dealings with illegitimate "Presidents" who steal elections and then deliver on promises like upping the Drug War model of violence against the People.

Solutions lie in the US being a responsible neighbor, instead of some pimp-like aggressor with a hand around the neck of madre méxico.
