First budget wise - money we spend on the war is money we could've used to save these failing domestic programs. If we searched harder to find ways not to cut these failing programs because they were a priority, maybe we would've decided not to overextend ourselves overseas. They'd be forced to find a more concise and effective plan for our defense and admit that Iraq wasn't necessary. And it's not guaranteed but we might've ended up with less enemies that way. And the best way to be a leader economically and be seen as fair and just is to keep working on improving those qualities in our own country. If we don't do that, not only do things get worse for people living here, but we weaken our standing with the rest of the world and our ability to be effective overseas. You get your priorities in order and fix yourself, lots of other things seem to fall into place. Change was proclaimed, but its not going to happen overnight. Faith and hope is present and the masses are going to demand that change minimally at the domestic level. It will be while until government is truly transparent and of the people. Heck at least we're a tiny bit closer in comparison to the previous administration, right?
