I wanted to name my son Nezahuacoyotl but my wife feared that he would struggle to spell it during kindergarten. Thus, we named him Zavier. I think Nez would have been a cool name. I am 52 and doubtful if I ever have more children unless I become a Utah polygamist. If I ever did have another son I would want to name him Nez.

Alamar (covered with gold, gilded) - sounds like a cool name for a brown boy. :-p

Amitai (Hebrew for truth)

Hahahaha, I found a random names generator and it came up with this:

Paciano Jacan

Paciano (Spanish, Latin) "Peace."

Jacan (Hebrew) "Trouble." ...

Sounds like a son you'd have. :-p

some of those are great! yes, huitzilopochtli is why i wear a hummingbird around my neck. but i'm nt sure its a good idea to name a child after a god like that. or if it is, i'm not sure i want to lay down that type of legacy, as you imply. but trust me, i thought of a lot of "huitzil" based names.

i like "rafa" too. (shouts out to puertoriqueño amigo and reader rafa!)

and the sound of "Miguel An-hel" is very nice, too.

thanks. :)

I kinda like Xbalanque which, although not nahuatl, rolls off the tongue very nicely. He was one of the hero twins in the Popol Vuh. My friend, who knows way more about nahuatl than I do (her daughter is named Citlalli) likes Huitzilopoztli, but he is a god of war, so I'm not so sure you want that association.

For Spanish I like Rafael, which means God has healed. I don't like it for that, though, I just dig the nickname Rafa. I had a huge crush on a man named Miguel Angel, and I always thought that was a beautiful name.
