I agree, I love what she said. Some of what she said I think can be done right away. Getting rid of NAFTA, not approving Plan Colombia or Peru FTA, getting rid of the wall, going against a guest worker program - these are all things that can't wait.

Other things I think, social programs like health care and stuff - as Chomsky mentioned in that vid on another post this is the first election where we a candidate is even offering anything close to what we want.

Maybe I'm not radical enough but I guess my hope is that Obama puts these structures in place and then people expand them and make them better. But we don't even have nationalized health care yet. I think it takes a lot of energy to reinvent things and even if Obama isn't 100 percent what we want it'd be easier to use his ideas and push them forward.

And the more we strengthen our economy and shift spending into things like education and health care then the more of it we'll have to offer to everyone here - wherever they were born.

So I think, and hope, that Obama will start the changes that eventually make Ms. McKinney's ideas come true.

ms mckinney's responses are so obviously right. i knew i liked her when i saw her speak in the dnc video, it is unfortunate that she can't win, but important (the hope) that her ideas can?

Damn... she's like THE ANSWER.

I wish that third-party candidates had a better chance of winning :/

I kid you not, I was in tears reading this. I think that I'd gotten to a point where I was so jaded I didn't think any politician "got it" anymore. As someone whose family has been deeply affected by insane US immigration policies and ICE practices, to actually read someone articulate rational and reasonable (not to mention clearly and concisely articulated) solutions to these problems is refreshing and gives me some hope. Thanks for brightening my day!
