i love the multi interest of umx...grasping living-and the meaning for and from it; from the political to the personal, with always the intent for a goodness.
the 1st vid, hitting too close to home, but more stylized and interesting to watch...a lovely soulful sound for what is recognized in all relationships, beyond a barrier of language. the second vid showed me the fun of being and watching women. :). the boots remind me of what i wore in 1972 on a drill team in high school (no not "drill baby drill")
thanks for your participation in another day nezua.

yes, it is not subtle, eh? jeje. the imagery of the first vid. nor are the lyrics. this is actually about the speed and repetition i need to be able to understand spanish lyrics. any faster and i'm about a line behind and then soon lost. i love the theatricality of the the cinematography. you could be much more subtle, but i like a tinge of that painted feel, that sculpted, staged feeling sometimes.

video two just fascinates me. yeah, its hilarious...pulls me in different directions, and i dont just mean the obvious, as i stated. but there's a lot to think about. firstly i love the voices and the music, i just do. some stuff is really pretty in there. but the visuals are confusing! i love how it forces you to examine cultural assumptions. like...you dont realize what you expect from women dancing in videos until you totally dont get it. like...why is the hair so messy? why is it not shampooed and brushed and just...cleaner looking? why are they dancing in front of a house? why the odd cheerleading steps? why the weird glasses? and so on. and it comes down to a lot of assumptions in the mind. and anyway, yeah i just start cracking up when i watch it.

ah, yeah. sleep. well, i try to limit that activity to just what is needed. you know what they say! time for sleep later...lots of living to do now. :)

thank you cocoadelight.

Thanks, Nezua. Loved the videos, particularly that of Velasco's, wonderful song and cinematic artistry. Didn't understand the words, but I sure got the meaning!

The dancers in the other video made me laugh. What a great way to start my Saturday errands!

By the way, Nezua, do you ever sleep? I imagine your closing your eyelids, writing, researching, and filming simultaneously. AMAZING!
