Friday Morning Rebel Roll Call

I TALK A LOT ABOUT BOB MARLEY, quote him, name domains after his lyrics, and so on. There was no more prevalent music in my childhood than Bob Marley, and his views on life informed some of my own early points of view even when I wasn’t aware it was happening. Or maybe they just provided the perfect scoring to my 70s experience, eh?

Is it FAIR to hate?

JUST LIKE THE SINGER AT THE ST. PAUL ANTI-WAR RALLY said of his band’s song Rock the Empire, this is a “call and response” post. ‘I shout out one thing, and you answer!’ he said…as I kept an eye on the police in riot gear, already gathering like storm clouds and in apparently no mood to rock much except the long batons in their hands.

True to Form

I feel we need more permission to be less conclusive and less defined and to bleed over our boundaries a bit. That approach is even what allows me to shift and change in the ways I do. Any label or title we fit upon ourselves ought immediately feel like a crown of thorns, ought immediately be suspect and deemed temporary at best. When we draw those concrete boundaries, those barbed-wire assignments—even around only ourselves—we are also deciding that others ought be contained in the remaining space.
